Procurement for Housing

As the only national procurement organisation dedicated to the needs of the social housing sector, PfH is an essential business tool for social landlords. The consortium generates substantial savings by harnessing the collective purchasing power of housing organisations. By reducing procurement costs, organisations can reinvest resources in front-line services and vibrant neighbourhoods. The National Housing Federation and the Chartered Institute of Housing back PfH, and their joint performance improvement subsidiary, HouseMark, monitors and assures the quality of it's work.

ProcServe is in partnership with Procurement for Housing (PfH) to launch a dedicated eMarketplace and Purchase-to-Pay solution for the social housing sector. The PfH Procurement Marketplace will be a first for the social housing sector. The Marketplace and electronic trading portal is immediately available for all PfH Members to access all of the consortium's framework agreements.

The solution provided by ProcServe, will help streamline and deliver effective procurement services for social housing providers across the UK. It will specifically help social housing organisations to reduce the price paid for goods and services by providing them with easy access to pre-loaded collaborative contracts, provide simple connectivity to suppliers and deliver e-invoicing capabilities. The solution will help these housing providers to streamline their procurement process, enable the accurate tracking of spend and deliver efficiency savings.

 

Department for Work and Pensions

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is the largest government department in the Government of the United Kingdom, created in 2001.The department has over 100,000 staff and makes up 25% of the UK Civil Service.

The DWP recognised the need for a system to support externally hosted catalogues and needed a simple process for transformational procurement. They recognised the value and capability of the Zanzibar Managed Service delivered by ProcServe and wanted to support the UK's national strategic initiative.

In the recently published OGC Procurement Capability Reviews, DWP was listed as being well placed in their effective use of procurement tools and techniques including Zanzibar. The Review commended DWP on having 'strong performance management, and a potentially world-class purchase to pay platform, with Oracle and Zanzibar'.

Teign School

Teign School in Devon is a foundation of 11-18 comprehensive schools with approximately 1,300 pupils. Previously a grant-maintained school, its bursar for the last 12 years, Kingsley Matthews, is supported in his role by Lorraine Hill, the finance officer. Teign School was the first school to place an order through OPEN in March 2007.

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust was created in October 2007 by merging St. Mary's NHS Trust and Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust. Now the largest Trust in the country, they have come together to establish the UK's first academic health science centre.

Imperial was one of the first adopters of Zanzibar and they completed their first live transaction through Zanzibar in June 2006. Zanzibar, delivered by ProcServe, was selected for its ability to improve management information, reduce administrative burden time and placing transactions, increase visibility of contracts with suppliers and the associated agreed prices and remove invoice discrepancies.

Treasury Solicitor's Department (TSOL)

The Treasury Solicitor's Department provides legal services to over 180 central government departments and other publicly funded bodies in England and Wales, and collect bona vacantia on behalf of the Crown.

The have now embraced Zanzibar and their main objectives for using the public sector collaborative procurement marketplace are:

  • to gain control and visibility of their third party spend
  • to be able to take advantage of best value collaborative deals

The implementation of Zanzibar is aligned with other aspects of a change programme where for example they will be capturing spend information on fees to small legal firms. Initially TSOL intends to channel their 3rd party common spend through the service with the possibility of bringing on a broader group of suppliers incrementally.

Communities and Local Government (Communities)

Communities and Local Government manages the UK government's agenda to create prosperous and cohesive communities, offering a safe, healthy and sustainable environment for all citizens. It spends over £200 million on goods and services to support this aim.

Zanzibar, delivered by ProcServe, was chosen by Communities and Local Government to support their drive towards improving their procurement processes, including reducing paper, reducing manual errors, ensuring consistent pricing from suppliers, and streamlining the enablement of new suppliers.

Crown Prosecution Service

The Crown Prosecution Service was set up in 1986 to prosecute criminal cases investigated by the police in England and Wales. In undertaking this role, the CPS advises the police on cases for possible prosecution, reviews cases submitted by the police for prosecution, prepares cases for court and presents those cases at court. The CPS chose the Zanzibar P2P and eMarketplace Solutions, delivered by ProcServe, to drive their Procurement Efficiency agenda and benefit from substantial savings across their procurement function. Zanzibar also enabled the CPS to advance the Sustainability Agenda within the organisation.
