Shared Services Takes Centre Stage at Public Sector Procurement Roundtable Hosted by ProcServe

ProcServe

8th MARCH 2010, LONDON, UK - ProcServe, a leading provider of strategic collaborative procurement and electronic trading solutions, today announced that it will host the next event in a series of public sector procurement roundtables on 18th March 2010. The theme of this roundtable will be ‘Driving the Benefits Out of Shared Services' and will feature a keynote presentation by David Thorpe, Head of Shared Services for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The context of this next event will be the HM Treasury report published in December 2009 entitled 'Putting the Frontline First: Smarter Government' and will look particularly at plans and progress on delivering back office efficiency through more deployment of shared services. This report identifies the Department for Work and Pensions as a leader in shared services.

The Department for Work and Pensions, an Oracle® E-Business Suite user, was the first to adopt the Zanzibar marketplace, the UK Government's strategic electronic procurement system, and is leading the way in the collaborative buying of goods and services by Public Sector bodies.

Zanzibar is a core element of DWP's Shared Service that is now available to other central government organisations. The Department for Children Schools and Families, the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission and Cabinet Office are DWP Shared Services' earliest customers.

The event lasting for three hours will have an audience of between 30 to 40 senior procurement professionals to ensure energetic discussion.
