BBC radio interviews ProcServe's chief executive on efficiency savings

Radio Wales

6th October 2009 - Veera Johnson, Chief Executive of ProcServe, has been interviewed for BBC Radio Wales on the Welsh Assembly Government's draft budget, which calls for departments to make efficiency savings.

Veera comments on whether cuts in central services is the panacea politicians are looking for to secure savings. She highlights that efficiency saving is not about cutting front line services, but about driving efficiencies throughout the back office. Enabling better buying, reducing paper bureaucracy and collaboration all create savings.

Veera points to ProcServe's work on xchangewales, in partnership with Value Wales. xchangewales has a target to create £200m of savings through better back office functions and improvements to procurement.

Veera goes on to conclude that jobs do not have to go to create savings, pointing out that 10-15% of savings can be made to the procurement budget alone through better processing.

quoteI like it a lot; I think it is very good. I use other systems and OPEN is by far the best. The electronic purchase order, eInvoicing and catalogue system is brilliant and is very easy to use. quote
